Mr. Stone is serving a two-year term as Chair of the National Gays & Lesbians in Planning Division (GALIP) of the American Planning Association from April 2013 to April 2015.

Mr. Stone was honored with a 2013 City Council District Immigrant Heritage Award on April 15, 2013, recognizing his distinguished community service.

Mr. Stone presented "Taking Care of the Parts, to Help the Whole: Managing Complexity" at the CIP/MPPI Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Monday July 14, 2008.

He also moderated a panel discussion on "Tools for Planning on a City-Region Scale" on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the same conference.

Mr. Stone published the article “Impacts of the Economic Downturn in Las Vegas”. APA NY MetroPlanner, May/June 2008.

Mr. Stone was a NY National Assembly Delegate in April 2008 for the adoption of the "American Planning Association’s National Policy Guide on Planning & Climate Change”.
